Description

Drep Ear Drops is a combination of Ofloxacin, Beclomethasone, Clotrimazole and Lidocaine. This medicine is used to treat ear infections. It works by preventing the growth of infection-causing bacteria and also reduces the swelling/redness associated with an infection. Drep Ear Drops may cause some side effects like ear discomfort, burning sensation and irritation. These symptoms usually subside on their own. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or become severe. Drep Ear Drops is meant for use in ears only. It should be instilled as prescribed by your doctor. Continue using the medicine for the prescribed duration. Skipping doses or not completing the full course of therapy may result in decreased effectiveness of the medicine or increased risk of re-infection. Drep Ear Drops is not recommended if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you are using any other ear drops or have any other ear problems. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding before using this medicine.

What is it prescribed for?

Otitis Externa

Otitis externa is also known as Swimmer’s ear is an infection in the ear canal (the tube that connects the outside of the ear to the eardrum). It is caused mainly by water that remains in the ear after swimming. This provides a wet environment in which bacteria or fungi can grow. Drep Ear Drops is used to treat the symptoms of otitis externa such as redness in the outer ear accompanied by warmth and pain.

Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media

Chronic suppurative otitis media is an infection of the middle ear usually caused by an ear injury or blockage of the eustachian tube (a narrow tube that connects the middle ear and the back of the nose). Drep Ear Drops is used for the treatment of chronic suppurative otitis media.

Acute otitis media

Acute otitis media (AOM), is an infection of the middle ear (the area behind the eardrum), this is common in infants and young children. Drep Ear Drops is used to treat short term otitis media caused by bacteria.

Drep Ear Drops is for external use only. Do not use it in your eye. Administer it as directed by your doctor. Avoid touching the tip of the dropper against your ear or other surfaces. Close the cover of the bottle after administration to keep it clean and free from contamination. Do not wipe or rinse the dropper tip. Use it at around the same time daily for the ease of remembering. Ensure that you complete the course of the treatment to prevent re-infection. Use the medicine within four weeks of opening the bottle. Avoid swimming and make sure not to get the affected region wet while bathing.

Drep Ear Drops is a combination of Ofloxacin,Beclomethasone,Clotrimazole and Lidocaine. Lidocaine reduces the sensation of pain in your ear by blocking pain signals from the nerves to your brain. Clotrimazole is an antifungal that reduces fungal growth, whereas Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell division and repair. Beclometasone is a steroid.
