Description

Dexalone Syrup is used for the symptomatic relief of cough or dry cough caused by the common cold, inhaled allergic irritants, and other conditions. Consumption of alcohol is not advised while taking this medicine due to an increase in the risk of drowsiness. It is not used to relieve cough caused by smoking and asthma.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) due to the increased risk of a life-threatening condition called Serotonin Syndrome. A time gap of at least 14 days should be maintained between stopping therapy with MAOIs and starting therapy with this medicine.

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to dextromethorphan or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.

Emphysema

Smoking

Serious adverse effects

Self-medication
