Description
Dexalone Syrup is used for the symptomatic relief of cough or dry cough caused by the common cold, inhaled allergic irritants, and other conditions. Consumption of alcohol is not advised while taking this medicine due to an increase in the risk of drowsiness. It is not used to relieve cough caused by smoking and asthma.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) due to the increased risk of a life-threatening condition called Serotonin Syndrome. A time gap of at least 14 days should be maintained between stopping therapy with MAOIs and starting therapy with this medicine.
Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to dextromethorphan or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.

General warnings
Emphysema
The use of this medicine has been associated with the worsening of Emphysema which may cause breathing difficulty. Report all your medical conditions/diseases to the doctor before taking this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Chronic bronchitis
The use of this medicine has been associated with the worsening of Chronic bronchitis which may cause breathing difficulty. Report all your medical conditions/diseases to the doctor before taking this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Smoking
This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a cough related to smoking, COPD, and asthma conditions.
Over the counter medicines

Serious adverse effects
If you do not take this medicine as directed/instructed, you may suffer serious side effects such as loss of consciousness, irregular heartbeat, or brain damage. Rarely, coma and death may occur. Self-medication

Missed Dose
Take/Administer the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
