Description

Coral 3 % Syrup is an antibiotic which used in the treatment of infections of the skin, heart, blood, stomach, brain and spinal cord, and the urinary tract. It is also used for treating cystic fibrosis. Tobramycin may damage nerves and may cause permanent loss of hearing.

What is it prescribed for?

Bacterial infections

Coral 3 % Syrup injection is used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the abdomen, brain and spinal cord, heart, bones, and joints.

Cystic fibrosis

Coral 3 % Syrup is used as an injection and an intranasal agent for the treatment of cystic fibrosis. The symptoms of this disease are clubbing of fingers, breathing difficulty, poor growth, frequent chest infection, poor weight gain, and coagulation disorder in a few patients, and infertility in males.

General warnings

Drug resistance

Use of Coral 3 % Syrup without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.

Neuromuscular disorders

Coral 3 % Syrup is not recommended for use in patients with existing neuromuscular diseases like Parkinsonism or Myasthenia gravis since it may worsen the condition of the patient.

Impaired kidney function

Coral 3 % Syrup may increase the risk of kidney injury, especially when high doses are used for a prolonged period of time. Suitable dose adjustments should be made based on the creatinine clearance (CrCl).

Missed Dose

If a dose is missed, take the dose as soon as you remember it. If it is almost the time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.
