Description

Clavam 375 Tablet is an antibiotic combination of Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid. It is used to treat infections caused by bacteria. Amoxycillin interferes with the growth and division process of the bacterial cell wall while Clavulanic acid enhances the activity of Amoxycillin in treating infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Clavam 375 Tablet has some side effects like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, and skin rash. Consult your doctor at the earliest if any of these effects persist for a long time or worsen. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to this medicine or any other antibiotics. Clavam 375 Tablet can be taken with food as it improves absorption and decreases the risk of an upset stomach. Make sure you complete the course of treatment even if you feel better after taking a few doses of this medicine. Stopping the use of this medicine early may make the infection come back and harder to treat. Clavam 375 Tablet is not recommended if you have problems like cholestasis (a condition where the normal flow of bile from the liver is interrupted) and other liver problems. This medicine may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines if you feel dizzy or sleepy. Clavam 375 Tablet can make birth control pills less effective. You may be advised to follow different ways of birth control methods to prevent unwanted pregnancy. Clavam 375 Tablet is safer for you if you can share your entire medical history with your doctor. This includes any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, a blood disorder, lung problem, stomach or intestinal problem, skin disorder, liver or kidney problems. Inform your doctor if you take any medicine. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding.

Clavam 375 Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections of the middle ear like otitis media (infection and swelling of your middle ear).

Sinusitis

Clavam 375 Tablet is used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the nose and nasal chamber like sinusitis. Sinusitis is an infection and swelling of the lining of the sinuses. Sinuses are hollow spaces in the bones around your nose that connect to the nose through small, narrow channels.

Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in your throat and tonsils. Clavam 375 Tablet is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis (when both, the throat and tonsils are infected).

Skin and Soft tissue infections

Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade your skin and its supporting structures. Clavam 375 Tablet is used to treat all skin infections caused by bacteria.

Urinary Tract Infection

An infection in any part of your urinary system (kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra) is called a urinary tract infection (UTI). UTIs are caused by bacteria and in some cases, viruses or fungi. Clavam 375 Tablet is used to treat urinary tract infections caused by bacteria.

Mononucleosis

People with mononucleosis (kissing disease- transmitted by saliva) may develop a maculopapular skin rash (a flat red area that is covered with small bumps) after 5-10 days of treatment with this medicine. This resolves within days of discontinuing the use. Clavam 375 Tablet may not be an appropriate medicine in people with mononucleosis.

Colitis

Clavam 375 Tablet can kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore, use this medicine with extreme caution if you have colitis (swelling of your colon's inner lining).

Kidney diseases

People with kidney diseases need special consideration while taking Clavam 375 Tablet due to the risk of kidney damage. Dose adjustment should be done based on the clinical condition.

Urine Sugar Test (Benedict's of Fehling's reagent)

Report the use of Clavam 375 Tablet prior to the test. This medicine may give a false-positive result for the presence of glucose/sugar in your urine. The urine sugar test should be performed with a different reagent in case you are taking this medicine.
Take Clavam 375 Tablet with food to avoid an upset stomach. Finish the prescribed course of Clavam 375 Tablet even if you start to feel better after a few doses. Stopping it early may lead to a recurrence which may be harder to treat. Diarrhoea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Clavam 375 Tablet may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps. Stop taking Clavam 375 Tablet and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of your face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.
