It is used to treat the symptoms of the common cold and allergies such as runny nose, sneezing, itching of the nose and throat, watery eyes, congested nose, cough, etc. Chericof Junior Syrup is also used as a cough syrup as it reduces the activity in the cough centre of your brain thus, suppressing the cough. Chericof Junior Syrup shows side effects like nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and headache. Most of these side effects are short-lasting and usually get better after some time. Talk to your doctor if these side effects bother you. This medicine is known to cause sleepiness, so you should avoid activities requiring mental focus like driving and/or operating a machine. Do not consume alcohol while taking this medicine as it will worsen your sleepiness. Chericof Junior Syrup can be taken with or without food as instructed by your doctor. Take plenty of water while taking this medicine to avoid any stomach irritation. If your doctor has prescribed this medicine, consult with your doctor before stopping this medicine. Avoid taking more than the prescribed dose as it can result in side effects. If you forgot to take this medicine on time, then skip that dose and take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not double up the dose to compensate for the missed dose. Chericof Junior Syrup is not recommended if you have high blood pressure, certain heart conditions, or enlarged prostate as this medicine can worsen the pre-existing condition. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of Chericof Junior Syrup, then ask your doctor for a substitute medicine. Chericof Junior Syrup is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, unless prescribed by your doctor. Inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney diseases. Dry cough refers is a cough that does not produce any mucus. Chericof Junior Syrup is used to relieve cough that is caused by the common cold or inhaled irritants as it suppresses the cough centre of your brain.

How it works

Chericof Junior Syrup is composed of Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide. Chlorpheniramine blocks the action of a certain substance (histamine) and provides relief from allergy. Dextromethorphan blocks the signals from the brain that trigger the cough reflex and thus, it helps in suppressing the cough. Phenylephrine acts by reducing the swelling of the blood vessels within the nose and makes it easier for you to breathe. Thus, this combination is effective in treating the symptoms caused by various conditions such as a common cold, sinusitis, rhinitis (obstruction in the nose), etc.
