Description

Candid 1% Ear Drops is an antifungal medication that is used to treat fungal infections and prevent them from further spread. Its topical form (tablet, gel, cream, ointment, powder, soap and lotion) is used to treat fungal infections of your skin such as diaper rash, nail infections and rash in folds of your skin etc. Candid 1% Ear Drops throat paint and lozenges are used to treat oral thrush (sore patches in your mouth) and ear drops to treat external ear infections. It also comes in a pessary and suppository dosage form to treat fungal infection of the vagina. Candid 1% Ear Drops solution may also be used to sterilize the surgical area before incision. This medicine treats the infection by damaging the protective layer of the fungi. Candid 1% Ear Drops shows some side effects like redness, skin irritation, itching and swelling at the site of application. Most of these side effects are temporary and get resolved with time. However, if any of these side effects do not resolve with time or worsen, seek a doctor's consultation at the earliest. Avoid the use of Candid 1% Ear Drops if you are allergic to it. Candid 1% Ear Drops topical forms should be used uniformly in and around the affected area. Clean and pat dry the affected area before using this medicine. Avoid covering with a bandage or cloth unless directed by your doctor. The other dosage forms of Candid 1% Ear Drops should be used as directed by your doctor. Avoid getting it in your eyes, nose or mouth. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Candid 1% Ear Drops should be used regularly to get the most benefit from it. Do not use more than you need as that may cause increased side effects. Inform your doctor if the infection does not clear up even after four weeks of treatment. Candid 1% Ear Drops is not likely to react with other medicines you are taking, orally or by injection. However, it is always better to let the doctor know about your current medications. If Candid 1% Ear Drops is intended to be used topically on the nipple area, wash your breasts before feeding your child. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy before using this medicine.

What is it prescribed for?

Oral Thrush

Oral Thrush is a common mouth infection that occurs due to the cause of the fungus (Candida albicans). Candid 1% Ear Drops is used for the treatment of this infection also known as oral candidiasis thereby decreases the symptoms.

Skin fungal infections

Candid 1% Ear Drops is used to treat skin fungal infections like athlete's foot (itchy white patches between the toes), jock itch (red, itchy and ring shapes rash around the groins), ringworm (red, itchy, a circular-shaped rash with clear skin in the middle), Pityriasis Versicolor (an infection that causes discolouration due to skin pigmentation), Cutaneous candidiasis (an infection that mostly affects the skin and nails due to candida fungus), etc.

Vaginal Candidiasis

Vaginal candidiasis is characterized by pain at the vaginal opening, vaginal discharge, itching, etc. Candid 1% Ear Drops is used in the treatment of vaginal infections caused by Candida albicans.

Otomycosis

Otomycosis is a condition that causes superficial mycotic infection of the outer ear canal. The infection can be characterized by itching and ringing sound and discharge from your ear. Candid 1% Ear Drops ear drops are used in treating otomycosis thereby prevents fungal growth.

Swimmer's ear

It is a condition which causes infection in the outer ear canal which goes through the eardrum towards the head. This infection is also known as otitis externa which can be treated by giving Candid 1% Ear Drops ear drops.

Drug Resistance

Complete the entire course of Candid 1% Ear Drops treatment even if the symptoms get better because the infection may reappear and the fungi may get less sensitive to the medicine resulting in drug resistance if it is not used for the full prescribed course.

Missed Dose

Use the missed dose of Candid 1% Ear Drops as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed dose.
