Description

Aristogyl -F Tablet is a medicine that consists of Furazolidone, Metronidazole, and Simethicone. It is used to treat infectious diarrhoea. It relieves symptoms of diarrhoea like cramps, stomach pain and, loose stools by killing the microorganism causing diarrhoea and reducing the stomach discomfort by expelling gas. Aristogyl -F Tablet has some side effects like dizziness, nausea, constipation, etc. These side effects are mild and may subside by themselves. Consult your doctor if they bother you for a long time. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it. Aristogyl -F Tablet is to be taken with food in dose prescribed by your doctor. Take it every day at the same time for the ease of remembering and for better results. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Complete the course of treatment even if you feel better after taking a few doses. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor. Aristogyl -F Tablet may not be suitable for all people. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have a low blood count, liver or heart problems, and your ongoing medicines. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking this medicine.

What is it prescribed for?

Infectious Diarrhoea

Aristogyl -F Tablet is used to treat infectious diarrhoea associated with giardiasis (infection of the small intestine), Cholera (severe diarrhoea and dehydration), and/or Enteritis (swelling and pain of small intestine). These conditions are caused by eating contaminated food and drinking contaminated water.

Neurologic Toxicity

Aristogyl -F Tablet may cause neurological effects like convulsions (uncontrollable contractions of muscles) and peripheral neuropathy (a result of damage to the nerves located outside of the brain and spinal cord). Any symptoms of convulsions, tingling or burning sensation of hands and feet should be reported to the doctor immediately.

Liver disease

Use Aristogyl -F Tablet with caution if you have liver problems due to the increased risk of severe side effects. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine and may closely monitor your liver functioning if required, based on your clinical condition.

Kidney diseases

Aristogyl -F Tablet is filtered by the kidney and excreted through urine. If you have kidney problems, Aristogyl -F Tablet may accumulate and lead to kidney damage. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine and may closely monitor your kidney functioning if required, based on your clinical condition.

Use in children

Aristogyl -F Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 1 month of age as it may cause anaemia (low red blood cells in the blood).

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Aristogyl -F Tablet, even if the condition gets better after taking a few doses to avoid antibiotic resistance (a condition where microbes evolve mechanisms that protect them from the effects of antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.

Driving or operating machines

Aristogyl -F Tablet may cause dizziness, confusion, or disorientation in some people. Hence do not perform activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms.

Missed Dose

Aristogyl -F Tablet is a combination of Furazolidone, Metronidazole, and Simethicone. Furazolidone works by preventing the formation of the bacterial cell wall that is essential for the survival of bacteria in your body. Metronidazole kills bacteria and protozoa by damaging their DNA. Simethicone reduces excessive gas in the stomach and relieves symptoms such as stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, and flatulence (accumulation of gas in the stomach).
