Description
Allylestrenol is a synthetic hormone (chemical messenger) that acts as progesterone (a female hormone crucial for maintaining the menstrual cycle and pregnancy). It is used to prevent miscarriages and preterm labour in women. It is not recommended for use in children under the age of 16 years.
Allylestrenol shows side effects like headache, nausea, swelling (oedema of hands and feet), bloating, tiredness, excessive hair growth and irregular periods. Inform your doctor if any of these side effects worsen or persist for a long time. Stop taking this medicine and consult your doctor if you experience any allergic reaction to it. This medicine may affect your alertness, so it is recommended that you avoid driving vehicles or operating machines if you are using Allylestrenol.

Premature labor
Allylestrenol is used in the prevention pre-term labour, a condition where the body gets ready to give birth much earlier than the expected due date.
Miscarriage
