An acupuncturist is a therapeutic practitioner who is trained in a variant of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) known as acupuncture.

An acupuncturist offers treatments for a variety of medical issues including symptoms as chronic pains (arthritis, headache, back pain),menstrual disorders, allergies, nausea and vomiting (arising after surgery or chemotherapy), and substance withdrawal.

To become an acupuncturist, you need to do a master's or a doctor's program in cupuncture from a government registered university or institute.

An acupuncturist will listen to the symptoms you are having and then they analyse your pulse, which is the most important form of diagnosis in acupunture. They will feel six pulses on each wrist and correspond them with major body parts. An acupunturist will also look at your tongue, body and facial colouring, texture, and skin temperature to diagnose a condition.

An acupunturist can prescribe medication, however, they must typically be herbal medication.
