The most common symptom of brain tumor is persistent headache. Other symptoms include seizures, changes in vision, problems with hearing, speech and memory, lack of focus, numbness in the limbs, nausea and other such effects.

Brain tumour may be caused due to certain risk factors such as radiation exposure. It could also be hereditary. In some cases, tumours originating from other parts of the body may spread to the brain.

Tumours are growths of tissue or cells which may or may not be malignant. If the tumour is malignant, it is said to be cancerous. Some brain tumours may be benign (non-malignant).

All brain tumours are not cancerous. However, certain type of brain tumour such as glioblastoma multiforme is known to be fatal in some cases.

Generally, brain tumours are surgically removed. This becomes easier when the tumour is benign and easy to separate from the other tissues without greatly affecting major functions. Minimally invasive surgery can also be performed. Radiation, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are other treatment options for brain tumours.
