Usually it is required to keep total radiation exposure in one year below a certain amount. This is approximately 1.66 mSv per year or 50 mSv over 30 years. Just for reference, you could get 80 Chest X-Rays done in a single year and still be within permissible limits, but even a single CT Scan of Head could expose enough radiation to exceed permissible limits of 1 year.
