Wisdom teeth are usually considered non functional because they don't play a major role in chewing the food. So the most preferred treatment for a troublesome wisdom tooth is usually extraction rather than filling or root canal treatment or crown.
And when that tooth is grossly decayed also extraction is the only logical treatment option left.
The cost of any treatment varies depending upon the experience of the dentist and the condition of the tooth that requires extraction but with the description that you have mentioned the treatment cost quoted to you seems quite reasonable. It would be prudent to go for the extraction as soon as possible so that your symptoms are alleviated permanently.
