Can I feed water to my 5months and 1 week old baby, there is a high temperature in North India and heat waves.

Its not recommended till 6 months complete. If he passing urine and active, it's not needed.

Breastmilk is sufficient for babies till 6 months… breastmilk composition changes with baby need

Mainly Continue to breast feed, make sure the mother is hydrated well,that itself will help baby as breastmilk is 80%water.You can give boiled and cooled water to baby especially if lips are getting dry.Give 2-3spoons 3 times a day.
Next Steps
Also bathing twice a day in room temperature  can help bring down body temperature. Can use Air conditioner with optimum room temperature 25,just don't put baby right under the blast of air

watch for urine output atleast 6-8 times per day is normal Review with Pediatrician if these measures ate not helping
