At this age the possible cause of white patches around mouth may be some fungal infection which could have developed due to moist skin secondary to drooling of milk or some fluids repeatedly after feeds.OR second reason may be transmission of mother’s fungal infection(which mother could have developed due to moist breast).OR third reason,it may be due to drooling of baby’s saliva already contaminated with fungus (which can happen in oral thrush).
I think
vitamin D deficiency has nothing to do with white patches on skin.
Next Steps
As these patches leads to dryness any may lead to scaling, give baby Mulmin drops-5 drops twice daily for 3 months, give R.B.tone drops which are needed anyway from 7th to 12th month in all babies-7 drops twice daily till one year of age and D3 must forte drops which are also needed by all babies from birth to 1 year-5drops twice daily till one year of age. Treat baby’s oral thrush if present with application of candid mouth paint in his oral cavity twice daily for 7-15 days.
Health Tips
Mothers are advised to clean the breast before and after each feed with a wet cloth followed by a dry cloth to avoid development of fungus over the nipple and areolar region
