Hello,
It is important to note that a tetanus vaccine is given if there is an exposure to contaminated area or even sometimes following an animal scratch/ bite exposure, and next in conditions you are undergoing an extensive procedure mostly a surgical event, again it is given to children and
pregnant females as a form of preventive measure.
Following tetanus vaccination, a revaccination is generally not performed unless there is an event as I mentioned above which has happened or is going to happen, or your workplace has possibility of you getting exposed to tetanus.
In situation of wound tetanus vaccination is given based upon different conditions, like when was the last time you had the vaccine, if there is a wound you got, what is the condition of it and the time after which you approach for vaccination.
There are many factors to be considered, and with it is also decided if you will need just a booster Dose or a full course of vaccine or any other immunization along with it.
Next Steps
It depends for which situation you are asking the explanation.
