Hello. Can Clotrimazole ointment be used for vaginal infection during the first trimster of pregnancy?

Yes ointment is safe and can be used for skin lesions. Being an ointment it doesn't have systemic absorption

Hi, Clotrimazole topical has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Systemic absorption is minimal following topical or vaginal administration. Clotrimazole use has not been well studied during the first trimester. Clotrimazole should only be used during the first trimester when need has been clearly established...Consult Gynecologist for further advice..
