Use of Alcohol in Homeopathic medicines

I would like to know why alcohol is being used in Homeopathic medicines in high concentration? For example in Aconitum napellus there is 90% alcohol. Is it to preserve the medicine or is alcohol being used as medicine itself?

It's the process of preparing homoeopathic medicines as well as it preserves the medicinal properties of a substance. Usually a qualified doctor gives you medicine in a pill  form which hardly contains 3 to 10 drops per month.
