Umbilical Hernia of14.5mm

My mother has umbilical hernia of 14.5 mm and i wanted to know that which method will be good for the operation: Open surgery or laparoscopic surgery.How i can ensure that the mesh which will be used is advance light weight mesh.She is a diabetic patient and has thyroid problem also.

The best mesh suitable for your mother will be used by any surgeon. So I don't bother about which mesh should be used. As many factors decide the type of mesh. Laparoscopic repair will be best and dual mesh will be used in that.

Laparoscopic mesh repair is ideal one. Regarding mesh you have to trust the surgeon. They will use dual mesh which is recommended.
