Hi My son is 12 days old from last two days his umbelical code outer part dried out leaving the goovy inner part. It seems not healed much it have slight blood stain and some discharge. But it have a very bad smell. Is seems normal but smell is the concern. I'm applying alcohol swab and tbact but till now no improvement. I'm afraid it is infected.

If there is a Redness around umbilicus, it will be considered as serious infection and definitely needs management with antibiotics. T -bact will help.if  Active child and feeding well, not to worry. But visit pediatrician as smell is bad for examination

Please get a direct consultation. Umbilical discharge which is foul smelling even after t bact.. means some infection. They might advice swab culture and oral antibiotics.
