Recurrent attacks of throat pain and difficulty in swallowing which comes atleast 7 to 8 times a year or obstructive sleep apnea with snoring and mouth breathing are common indications for adeno tonsillectomy in children. Usually tonsillectomy is deferred till age of 5 to 6 years unless very severe. So surgery is not absolute necessity except in cases of severe obstructive sleep apnea
