Thyroid nodule
Have a 14 mm thyroid nodule in right lobe. Increased by 2 mm in last 1.5 years.
Sep 14 Fanc : showed adenomatoid nodule with cystic degeneration. Scant thick collolid was seen in smears.
Nov 14 FNAC showed suboptimal cellularity
Had a CT few days back for neck. Came absolutely normal. Thyroid tests also came Normal few months back.
What should I do. Another FNAC or surgery?
You have a thyroid nodule arising from the right lobe which is growing progressively during last few months. The FNAC result was inconclusive. Pl get an USG of neck done and review the FNAC slide by another histopathologist. The treatment is surgery. The report will decide the nature and extend of the surgery needed. The extend of the surgery may vary from right hemi-thyroidectomy, right sub-total thyroidectomy to total thyroidectomy. Don't get scared, proper surgery will cure your condition.
