My Thumb doesn't bend at the MP joint. Its by birth and both thumbs are affected. My father has the same problem and even my kid has the same deformity. What is this deformity called and can it be treated?

It seems to be bilateral congenital trigger thumb. It needs small surgery. Results are usually good. I would like to examine the patient, before I give a final opinion.

It can be due to a bony abnormality, or a problem the with tendons/nerves in the region.
Next Steps
You will require a x-ray of the thumb and further evaluation. You can schedule an appointment. Dr. Satvik N Pai
