There is too much vaginall itching

Since 6 months, I have been experiencing too much itching in my vagina. I consulted a gynecologist, and she said their is no infection and advice to avoid soap use and suggested v-wash and lulican ointment. But it is till there. I want to know if this is a skin problem or gynec problem so that i can consult for the right treatment.
