Tetanus vaccine during immunosuppressive

2019-07-18 17:18:47
I am, 9 months post Kidney transplant patient . The operation took place on 12th November 2018. Today I got a small cut from a cycle pedal (not made of metal)  on one of my fingers. There was slight bleeding. The wound was properly sterilised and bandaged. Last Tetanus injection I took was on 20th June 2017 after an injury. I am not sure whether I have taken TT vaccine in childhood. I only took when there was an injury. So Sir, Is it necessary to take Tetanus vaccine after this cut as I am on immunosuppressive medications?

No not required but still since you area kidney transplants patient. With immunosuppressant it’s better to take one now and do care of wound. Consult your Nephrologist also before taking any TT injection
