Temperature 98on forehead but 100on back

My 2 year kid is showing temperature of 98 on his forehead but 100 on his back - same trend since 5 days now. He is active. Blood reports are normal except for increased lymphocytes (55) and paltelets (4.85L). Is it normal for kids to have such varying temperature (2 degree) on forehead and back both using infrared thermometer?. Why is this happening?

A variation of 1-2 degrees can be there . Infrared are best when used on forehead . If child is active , then no need to do anything . U can use a digital thermometer ( oral / underarms) for accurate measurements

Hi, generally post viral kids do get dehydrated which could be the reason for warm body; if child is playful, active, passing urine adequately nothing to worry. Thrombocytosis may be due to mild nutritional anemia, lymphocytosis it’s mild; give him plenty of liquids/ ORS

Not to worry! If the temperature is above 100 in thermometer then you can give fever medication. As the body surface area of head and back covers the major part of it, shows slight increase on those areas. Rest assured nothing to worry about.

To be Frank Not to use infrared thermometer Use regular one and measure only in armpit. If above 100.4F then only fever otherwise not
