Mostly it will be trivial. But sometimes rarely, IV cannula can result in inflammation of the nerve (thrombophlebitis) and clot thrombosis.
The treatment is as follows:
1) keep arm elevated on pillow
2) apply ice wrapped in cloth
3) apply THROMBOPHOBE OINTMENT to swollen area thrice a day
4) Tab. Combiflam one tablet, thrice a day after food
