Hi. I can understand your situation must be very difficult. Having the symptoms again again is very frustrating. And upon that depending on a medicine for experiencing normalcy is very irritating. I know toh would have done everything in your capacity to get well and I appreciate your effort that you are putting for self care.
In my opinion and according to the research data currently we do not have very high quality evidence whether homeopathic treatment is better or not. And I also do not have much idea what they use for treatment of depression and what are the side effects in the short term and long term of those medications.
I have heard many people say that homeopathic medications have no side effects. But that is false. Even the most natural things that we consume on a daily basis have side-effects. E.g., even oxygen has side effects and so the body developed the mechanism to expel oxygen as soon as it is utilised for whatever need we have. If stored it has damaging effects on the cells that it gives nourishment to. Similarly every food has side effects consumed in large quantities. The difference is the range which we can consume before it becomes harmful.
The drugs that we use for treatment also have range. They have a narrow range compared to food items for the balance of effects vs side effects.
In my experience, if something is said to have no side-effects for anyone that thing also wouldn't have any effects for anyone.
What you may be having are recurrent episodes of depression. But before that I would need to know, how long have you received each treatment for? Also whether you have received any psychotherapy with medications in the past or not.
Research has shown that if combined together medicine and psychotherapy works better than any treatment alone.
Escitalopram 5 mg is a subtherapeutic dose and if in the past it did not have any side effects on your then your tolerance for escitalopram is good and you may be able to take the medicine for longer periods. Add cognitive behavioural therapy with it and you may be able to maintain the recovery for a long time.
Next Steps
consult a psychiatrist because if any medicine is not having good effects it is a good decision to go back to the previous treatment which was having good effects.
I give online consultations and therapies at reasonable rates.
Health Tips
combine medicine and psychotherapy (therapy can be taken only once a week) to have good effects
