Swelling near the incision site following a cholecystectomy could be due to a few possible reasons: Scar Tissue or Keloid Formation: Over time, scars can become thick or raised. This may cause some swelling or discomfort at the site of the incision. Hernia: After surgery, a small part of the abdominal wall may weaken, causing a hernia at the incision site. This can lead to swelling and occasional aching. Infection or Fluid Build-up: If the area is tender or swollen and feels warm to the touch, there could be an infection or fluid accumulation (seroma or hematoma). Post-surgical Changes: Some residual pain or swelling might occur after surgery, but if it's persistent or worsening, it should be examined. Since you've observed swelling and ache, it’s important to consult with a healthcare provider for a physical examination and possibly an ultrasound to determine the cause. Please feel free to share photos if you'd like a more specific assessment.

The symptoms you are experiencing, including swelling and ache near the stitches, may be indicative of PCS (Post-Cholecystectomy Syndrome), a common side effect of gallbladder removal. The possible causes of these symptoms include: - Residual gallstones - Scar adhesion irritation - Duct obstruction - Bile leakage in nearby areas - Digestive issues - Stress
Next Steps
Go for Ultrasound or ERCP to determine the underlying cause of your condition. After the test results, I suggest consulting with a physician in-person or online through Practo for an individualized treatment plan.
Health Tips
