Swelling at the front of ankle (left foot), just above where the tibia ends and the foot begins. Not much pain, feels tender when i touch and press and little pain sometimes. Few weeks ago there was dull pain, pain subsided gradually with some massage. No restriction in foot movememt, can flex in all direction. Cant recall any major injury in last few weeks. When i press and rub, it feels like there is something inside..like granular..hard to explain.

Get a sonography or MRI done as it's a swelling without pain or any loss in function.

This may be due to some tendinopathy.. Sometimes, the tendons passing from ankle towards foot may get inflammed causing the pain..
Next Steps
You can start with ice fomentation,  apply crepe bandage, avoid walking, take analgesic with anti inflammatory medicine, apply analgesic ointment locally,  start physiotherapy if it is not relieved.. Local US..
