Hi My father, who is a COPD patient has developed sudden intolerance to chillies, onion and any citric or acidic substance since 1 year. He can't eat food with even a particle of chilly powder. He is a smoker since 45 yrs and is trying hard to quit it. He describe it as a cut in the tongue which is not healing. He suddenly became weak around 10 years ago probably due to COPD. He has also developed pain in his right arm for some days. Please suggest if it is a concern. Thank you

The nicotine after smoking can cause severe irritation in a few people. It is advisable to stop smoking soon. Avoid spicy food completely for few months. Take an antacid as and when necessary. Consult online.
