My daughter is 7 weeks old. Stool Reducing Substance test came positive and my pediatric has stopped all lactose milk including mother's milk. Will she always be lactose intolerant. What will happen to mother's milk. Is it possible that because of diarrhea the test came positive or it is vice versa. Thank you very much

Mothers milk should not be stopped. You can add lactase to milk.

NO,do NOT stop breastfeeds! Lactose intolerance is usually temporary, along with loose motions. Ensure a gap of atleast 2-1/2 hours inbetween breastfeeds, maintain strict hygiene in feeds and add Enterogermina vial half vial twice a day for 5 days. Remember, the number of motions is NOT important for first 3-4 months of life, and may vary from 10-12 a day to just one motion after 3-4 days. What IS important is the consistency, which should be soft and formed. If she has accompanying rashes on buttocks, apply rashfree cream twice a day and avoid diaper use.
