Hello Docs, Me and my Wife are expecting a baby soon. We have been receiving calls regarding steam cells banking. We are confused to go for steam cells banking or not. We need help with following questions 1) are steam cells surgeries successful ? And what percentage ? 2) has there been proper research done for all diseases? 3) is it worth ?

Answers (1)

Stem cells banking from umbilical cord blood is still in trial phase. There is no proper use for the same at present. As amount of stem cells present in cord blood are not enough to get the engraftment if needed for stem cell transplantation. You may choose not to do that.
