Spine MRI with a implant in thigh

2024-01-04 16:02:05
Hello, I have a question related to spine MRI. My father (75yrs) has a pain in lower back and ortho doctor suggested a MRI of his spine. My father has an implant in this thigh (bone fracture and steel plate implant is used) that was operated 10 years back. I would like to know if spine MRI can be done with the presence of implant in his body. Some say it cannot be done and some says it can be done. Hence, needed a clarification. Thanks in advance, Best Regards, Prashanth

Kindly consult the MRI centre where you plan to have it done.

In case of emergency, even with implant, we advise MRI, though steel implant is not compatible
