Speech delay

My 3yr old son can't frame full sentence but speaks few words he has speech delay. But he repeats what we say but that too 1 word at time. Whereas my 2yr niece speaks better thn him. We had consulted the pediatrics also but they said it will improve as he joins the school.do we need to meet speech therapist.
