Soreness and pain while bending knee

I have soreness and pain when bending or straightening my right knee. I cannot sit on the floor crosslegged or kneel down on the floor because it hurts. No lain while walking and dont feel much when going on stairs. This has been since 2 months. What can this be? I have a slightly active lifestyle and sometimes do squats in workout.i have not worked out for 2 months now.
