Smaller Left kidney

2017-03-31 15:01:11
During my routine ultrasound, my left kidney was found to be smaller 7.5 cm. Right kidney was of normal size. In my last scan around 5 years back my left kidney was 10 cm. Urine test show 100 mg/dl protein and serum creatinine level was 1.24. Should I get worried about it? Is this CKD?

Hi The size of kidney may vary due to a number of reasons. However creatinine levels are borderline high and urinary excretion of proteins is hih. Please see a Nephrologist for further line of management. In case of further doubts, please feel free to write back to me. Regards Dr Prashik Meshram

If you are not hypertensive and previously if you didn't have kidney infection, then it is developmental abnormality. Regularly check your BP and yearly once S.Creatinine.
