Side effect after taking Flunil 40 mg

Hello Doctor, I want to inform you about a side effect I am experiencing with Flunil 40 mg. After taking the 40 mg dose, I feel a sharp burning/pain-like sensation below my throat and in the upper chest area. It feels like a sharp pain, but it usually lasts for around 30 minutes after taking the medicine and then settles down. Around 6–7 months ago, I experienced the same problem when I was taking Flunil 40 mg. At that time, I consulted at J.J. Hospital, and when the dose was reduced to 10 mg, this problem stopped. Now, I have started taking Flunil 40 mg again as advised by a Practo doctor, and the same throat and upper chest pain/burning sensation has started again. I do not feel stomach irritation; the problem is mainly in the throat and upper chest area after taking the 40 mg dose. Please advise whether this could be a side effect of the dose and whether any change is needed.

This may be due to Flunil 40 mg. As it happened before and improved after reducing the dose, please discuss a dose adjustment with your psychiatrist. Take it after food with plenty of water

SSRIs (like Fluoxetine) can cause gastritis/acid reflux like issues as a side effect. It's possible this is what's being experienced currently.
Next Steps
Consult with your treating Psychiatrist, ask if medications like Pantoprazole might be of help.
Health Tips
Consider taking the medication after or during meals.
