For patients younger than 20 years, with first episode of shoulder dislocation, chances of recurrence are around 80%. Physically active sports persons are advised surgery as early as possible in such condition specially if patient is symptomatic.
Rehabilitation can be tried if improvement is seen, but after second dislocation, surgery must be performed.
With every subluxation or dislocation, head of humerus and glenoid get damaged gradually and if bone worsens, outcome of surgery is affected.
