According to your description of symtoms it may be due to cervical radiculopathy, ie. a condition in which the vertebral disc is causing a compression over the spinal nerves. It is a recurrent condition unless it is properly cured by a physical therapist. Intially the compression has to be reduced through pt manipulation, tractions etc, followed by strengthening exercises.
It can be due to poor posture, poor work ergonomics etc. A qualified physiotherapist has to properly asses the condition, a clearly explains you about the postures you have to maintain as well as your wrong postures.
