Should I do NIPT / amniocentesis(safe?)

2024-02-17 04:20:03
I have done an NT scan at 14 weeks and 6 days NT is 1.8mm, and it's normal as the doctor said. At the same time, I tested a double marker test, and the result is HCGb: 65.56g/ml and multiple of median: 2.28 PAPP-A result: 2,509.61mU/L and Multiple of Median:0.59. Edward and patau syndrome detected normal, but the down syndrome detected intermediate risk Age Risk(AR): 1.368 Final Risk(FR):1.354. My gynecologist has suggested NIPT, but when I took a second opinion, another doctor suggested an amniocentesis test. Which test should I take? I'm confused. Please help me. My first girl child is 2 years old, and all her reports were normal, and she is a healthy child. Please guide me. I have attached my reports.

As per your report there is no difference between the Age related Risk and the Final risk. So in your case the NIPT or amniocentesis test is really not indicated. Whatever risk you have is an age related risk. For further information and discussion please consult with me on Practo.

Both dual marker and nipt are screening tests. If one screening test is showing intermediate risk, you should go for confirmatory test (amniocentesis) rather than another screening test ( nipt )

Considering your age it’s likely to show intermediate risk . However DMT at 14 weeks is not very predictable it’s better to go for triple marker and NIPT as well . It’s recommended to go for non invasive test prior to invasive test . As soft markers are WNL

Do NIPT. Amniocentesis is an invasive procedure. Nothing to do if NIPT is normal
Next Steps
Do NIPT.
Health Tips
If there is a positive risk in NIPT, then do amniocentesis.
