If you are type 1 diabetic and you stop insulin for few days,  it can be extremely dangerous and can be fatal. In type 2 diabetes , the sugar levels will rise although its not as immediately dangerous as type 1. Yes , diabetic women can bear healthy babies if sugar levels are controlled well.
