Short Breathlessness

My mother is recently experiencing short breathlessness while climbing stairs, doing house chores etc. She is not diabetic or over weight. She used to go walking regularly earlier but stopped now as she takes care of my new born child. I did ask her to continue walking short distances. Please advise on her condition.
