Severe Stuttering in 5 year old son

My son started stuttering since March this year. As it grew serious I consulted a therapist. But, his condition has worsened. I was told by the therapist that his stammering will on the peak before it starts to slow down. Is this true. Earlier, it were just family who could sense him stutter but now he can't even speak a word without stuttering. It's bothering me a lot. Please help. I really need a second opinion if he's being treated well or I need to change the therapist.

You did not mention with what kind of therapist you had treatment. Generally a speech therapist or clinical psychologist are helpful. If causative factor contributing more are emotional and attention seeking, then clinical psychologist are more helpful. Otherwise, speech therapist can do as good also. Without evaluation, nothing much can be advised.
