Severe Cough with mucus
My 17 months old baby boy had suffered from fever 5days back. Fever subsided but he is getting severe cough along woth mucus for the last 3days. Sound is there when he breathes. Doctor suggested Ascoril LS drops & Augmenting DDS. But I heard that Levolin inhaler is better than antibiotic. Is that true?

Antibiotics once started need to be completed for 5 days or as long as advised.
Antibiotics are for bacterial infection. No or very small relation with cough.
For cough, drops are enough
But if there is breathing problems like fast breathing, retractions and noisy breathing then nebuliser is required.
Cough once started may take a week or two to recover so give more liquids to keep child hydrated.
So augmentin DDS and Ascoril LS drops to be continued. Levolin inhaler if the doctor prescribes (as content of inhaler already there is Ascoril LS drops)
