Hello. It is in the sternum region (mid-chest). It is a common site for Keloid formation, especially in women. It is usually itchy, red and starts growing in size. Steroid injection directly into the swelling is one mode of treatment. It can be combined with a silicone gel sheet application.
It is a tendency for some people to form keloids (there may be other previous injuries that have become keloids), other members in your family may have similar lesions after small injuries.
Next Steps
Let a doctor examine the lesion and decide whether to go for steroid injection.
Health Tips
Don't scratch it as repeated injuries can make it very big.
