Rtpcr post COVID treatment.

5 days back I have been tested +ve for COVID-19. Now under treatment recovering good but have a doubt as to whether can I retake Rtpcr after recovery to see if I turn -ve or not. I asked my physician he seems to deny the idea to retest after recovery as he feels I might still show +ve after recovery but not be contagious. Altough not much satisfied with the answer I would like to understand as to why shouldn't I retest post recovery to see if I turn -ve or not. And if no, how long does the virus stays within me ?

Isolation for minimum 7 days required from onset of symptoms. No re test required as it can come false positive due to dead viral particles. If you wish you can retest after 7 days of symptoms onset
