Right leg Outer thigh getting numb

My wife's right leg's outer thigh gets numb specially while lying down on bed or sometimes while standing as well. It pains also sometimes if touched. What could it be? Which specialist to consult?

There might be a spinal intervertebral disc prolapse. Consider an MRI lumbar spine
