Yes it could have been because of sleeping in wrong posture orelse if you have had a day of prolonged standing or walking because of which your hip might have gone tight.

Apply hot packs and do some light hip stretches. If you dont know any stretches or it doesn't get better in two days visit a physiotherapist who will definitely help you with your hip mobility.
