My son is 15 months old. He is not speaking any words. He blabbing sometimes. His hearing is good and understands us. We visited an ent and he suggested to get OAE and BERA test. My son completely failed in OAE. But he understands and reponds sound from All direction. We never felt any problem with his hearing. He even responds to external sound outside the door. He is having continuous cold for 2 months. Doctor didn't give enough time to explain only.

Failed OAE could be due to a an active URI , was bera done ? In case of persistent cold , assessment of ear and nose is needed and status of tympanic membrane to be noted to rule out glue ear . Once the cause of persistent cold is ruled out , hearing assessment can be done . In some cases, adenoid hypertrophy early onset leads to persistent discharge (if bilateral ) . In any case examination is necessary .
Next Steps
Get treated for persistent nasal discharge first
Health Tips
Have to rule out OME and then hearing assessment to be done
