Regarding insomnia after heart surgery

My father had heart surgery last year and from then he is insomniac. He only sleep after having sleeping pills and I really don't want him to be dependent on them. Is there any cure to this? I am confused on whom to consult..please guide

He is not abusing sleeping tablets.. Let him continue.. If any problem like oversleeping.. You can stop...
